The Single Palm Change taps into vortex energy to open the chi of the body and still the mind. It is a foundational practice of Taoist circle walking meditation. As the core maneuver of Bagua Zhang, it uses spiraling movements paired with footwork to create a unique and effective martial art. It exists within all the palm changes. Learn a classic Single Palm Change, coordinating twisting, turning, and changing direction, along with variations to use spontaneously in response to an opponent.

Mary Christianson demonstrates Forward Stepping Cloud Hands from the last third of the Wu Style Tai Chi Long Form.

CLOUD HANDS: Tai Chi’s Complete Qigong Movement Learn one Tai Chi movement as a complete Qigong exercise.

June 13 & 14 in Minneapolis. CANCELED

Cloud Hands includes the essential elements of Tai Chi in one movement – turning, twisting, shifting weight, and stepping. Internally, it develops the four main energies of Tai Chi – peng, lu, ji, and an. As Cloud Hands unites the legs, spine, and arms, chi alignments and pathways are strengthened. Powered by the legs, the body turns the Hands to Wave Like Clouds.

Learn the details that make Wu Style Cloud Hands work for chi development. Know how to apply those principles to other Tai Chi movements and styles to enhance your practice.
